Over the past couple of years, Facebook has emerged as the leader when it comes to social networking. Originally a community designed for college students, Facebook has expanded its user base to allow any individual or business to join. Many companies are hesitant in promoting their business on Facebook because they feel that their target market “isn’t using it”. This might have been true during the first few years of Facebook’s existence, but any company who is not on Facebook is missing out on a great marketing prospect.
Targeting Demographics AND Keywords
Facebook PPC advertisements, in particular, offer a great opportunity for a business to reach the specific demographic that they wish to target. Facebook advertising is an advertising tool that is designed to reach potential customers on the social networking giant.
While other major search engines PPC programs target keywords, Facebook Advertising targets user’s interests as well as keywords in a user’s profile. Facebook advertising lets advertisers choose demographics such as gender and age among many others, as well as target topics that a user is interested in (Based off what they provide in their profile). Ads are served to only users profiles based on the settings you select, thus being targeted to a smaller, much more targeted niche audience. Being able to serve ads to a more targeted niche audience means more useful clicks and higher conversion rates for advertisers.
It is easy to use and set up, and compared to the other major search engines, Facebook offers cheaper clicks as well as a chance to reach users when they are not actively looking for a product or a service. If you are in the market for a PPC program Facebook advertising is definitely an option you should explore.
